With speed and efficiency, this demanding night-work-only project was completed weeks early. The southbound (Will County Line to Larry Power Road) project consisted of pavement removal, pavement patching, resurfacing with polymerized asphaltic binder (SMA) and surface courses, thermoplastic and epoxy pavement markings, and removal and replacement of raised pavement reflectors. Nearly 200,000 square yards of grinding and 40,000 tons of primarily polymer-modified hot mix asphalt with slag was placed on over 17 lane miles of driving lanes and shoulders.
