The I-55 project consisted of adding a third lane to Interstate 55 in Illinois in two contiguous projects: the first from Black Road to U.S. Route 30, and the second from U.S. Route 30 to 143rd Street.
Both projects incorporated pavement and shoulder removal. Other elements included hot mix asphalt removal, bridge crash wall modifications, hot mix asphalt patching, hot mix asphalt resurfacing, hot mix asphalt widening, hot mix asphalt shoulders with rumble strips, concrete median barrier, storm sewers, culverts, underdrains, landscaping, ground mounted signs, pavement markings and police pull offs.
