Originally built in part during 1963 and the early 70s, Central Avenue and 175th Street consists of full-depth roadways that were last resurfaced in the late 80s.
By 2006, although the base pavement remained sound, the surface course had begun to deteriorate and required resurfacing. Cook County, along with their consultant S.T.A.T.E. Testing, developed a modified verison of recycled ground tire rubber.
In the spring of 2007, Gallagher Asphalt was the successful bidder on the project and completed the project 30 days ahead of schedule.
Cook County declared Gallagher Asphalt the “2007 Cook County Contractor of the Year” for the project.
