This project consisted of two Illinois Department of Transportation projects that were connected: 10.7 miles of resurfacing Illinois Route 50 from Manteno to Monee. The project was held to the strict pay for Pay for Performance specifications which incorporated the use of a material transfer device along with consistent asphalt production. Work included 2.25" milling of the existing pavement, patching of failed pavement areas, ¾" average Poly Level Binder N50 and N70 Levels Binder, and topping it off with a 1.5" Surface Mix D N70. Gallagher set new standards by paving two driving lanes along with the shoulder in one pass, eliminating cold joints and cutting the traffic disruption time in half.
